NP here. What the hell?? She’s not old for 7th grade. She’s the oldest probably with an Oct birthday, which is the oldest non-redshirted birthday in many school districts in this area. [/quote]

Why would you think she was held back if she has an October birthday and the cohort birthday range for 7th grade is October 1, 2010 to September 30, 2011? She isn’t, in fact, going into 7th as a teen.  School has started and she is 12.  Her birthday isn’t for 2 months. Yes, she’s on the older end of the cut off but she is still within in.

My kid is 13 going in as a freshman too. Turns 14 in November.  Starting in a different state that had a Dec 31st cut off thankfully.  Hearing about older 18-19yr olds graduating high school is strange.  Then kids red shirt and you have 20yr old boys graduating.  That's insane[/quote]

You can take it up with the local school boards then. A 7th grader turning 13 in Oct. is grade-appropriate. [/quote]
