NP here. What the hell?? She’s not old for 7th grade. She’s the oldest probably with an Oct birthday, which is the oldest non-redshirted birthday in many school districts in this area. [/quote]

My daughter is starting 9th grade as a 13yr old.  Going into 7th as a teen is really old, esp a girl.  Probably held back [/quote]

Why would you think she was held back if she has an October birthday and the cohort birthday range for 7th grade is October 1, 2010 to September 30, 2011? She isn’t, in fact, going into 7th as a teen.  School has started and she is 12.  Her birthday isn’t for 2 months. Yes, she’s on the older end of the cut off but she is still within in.

Your daughter is in the younger end of the cut off range, unless she skipped a grade. [/quote]
