My child’s favorite schools so far are UVA, Richmond, and Michigan. Based on that, is it likely they will like WF?
Yup, all three are known for social, smart kids like Wake. Wake has excellent D1 teams like UVA and Michigan. The campus is beautiful, similar to Richmond in that respect, but obviously larger.
Wake has excellent D1 teams like Michigan? The only thing they have in common historically athletically is that they’re both D1 division schools.
Do you not follow college sports? Both are in Power 5 conferences. Wake’s football team has been ranked in the T20 each of the past two years. The baseball and men’s soccer teams were ranked #1 this past year. Basketball has historically been strong at Wake with Tim Duncan probably their most famous alum (although Mugsy Bogues a sentimental favorite of mine given his local ties) and Chris Paul the more recent, although in recent years, more middle of the pack ACC, although respectable. Wake has made the Sweet 16 nine times and the NCAA tournament 23 times. Although not a big spectator sport, golf is always strong, going back to Arnold Palmer’s days at Wake. Women’s tennis, field hockey and golf also very strong. All this with a student population less than a quarter of Michigan’s.
Mugsy graduated with me in 98 - he didn’t finish his degree until later I am not sure Chris Paul finished his degree there - he left for the NBA early and I think finally earned his degree very recently at NC A&T (?, don’t quote me, but it was an HBAC) Timmy was a rare one that stayed his full 4 years and graduated on time. It was an amazing time to be a student there.
Not. Mugsy was not 98. He was 88. With me. Google it.
