It makes no sense to separate Edison like that. Don’t edison and Lewis share feeder schools? It should be Lewis, edison and hayfield.
Lewis shares an ES feeder with West Springfield. However Lewis pyramid kids must go to Twain inside Edison for middle school AAP. It's just all a mess anyway and nothing will be perfect.
That is a simple fix. Eliminate the split feeder for Rolling Valley and make it 100% zoned for WSHS.
This could be done simply and with minimal disruption by eliminating the split feeder at Sangster and making that school completely zoned for Lake Braddock. With the AAP overlap for middle school and WSHS/LB being essentially an "equal" school swap, there would be minimal fuss and fight from parents, especially if there was a grandfathering of all current high school kids. Then eliminate the split feeder from Rolling Valley and move those kids all to WSHS starting with 8th graders. Those parents will be thrilled. It would be a very simple rezoning with minimal fight where everyone is happy. I could be wrong, bjt I think this might also help eliminating some crowding at WSHS, or would result in no impact on enrollment numbers.
And a huge bonus would be the elimination of 2 split feeders. Also, no student would be downgraded in school quality. Finally, the property value arguments would be neutralized, so the rezoning would be one of the few that would happen without a fight.
So even fewer students zoned to Lewis. Including some on the south side of the parkway who would geographically be better off at Saratoga. And if you made this change Saratoga would be an island away from Lewis. There is a huge area where no one lives that separates Saratoga from Lewis - the NGA, Fullerton Industrial, and I-95 / Loisdale Road. Take out the small link that is Rolling Valley and you create an island. But hey, screw Lewis right?
