[/quote] I live in a middle class black neighborhood in DC and several of my neighbors (who I am friendly with but wouldn’t call my friends) have told me they have no non-black friends. Not even no white friends, but no friends of any other race. You are talking about UMC people, where there is less diversity generally. It doesn’t necessarily translate across society. In UMC DC, for instance, I’d say it’s unusual to not know any foreign people. But in most of the US, that would be common. Not everyone has the same opportunities for diversity, and to some extent access to diverse spaces is a mark of privilege.[/quote]
