They got into one from their list. How is this not a good outcome? The only ways your logic would work are if you believe that a) being admitted to more than one school is somehow a better outcome even if those additional schools are less attractive to you or b) adding more lower ranked schools to your list somehow increases your chances of being admitted to a higher ranked school.
