The whole thing of forcing boys and girls into gendered outfits, especially forcing girls into dresses, is just creepy.
Gendered outfits have existed throughout every culture and era in history. About 5 minutes ago, we decided gender was a feeling rather than a biological fact, and now we are going to pretend gender signifiers are creepy. OK.
So what. You know what else has existed throughout every culture and era in history? Transgenderism. It's creepy to insist that girls wear white dresses. Really creepy. If I were on my period I'd say no way. Actually if I were this girl's classmate I would have worn a shirt dress with a tie and long sleeves as well as socks and sensible "boy" shoes and cut my hair short "like a boy" and absolutely no makeup. And then encouraged her to come to ceremony in full makeup, hair do, high heels, and sassy white shirt and pants. Freedom!
