However, it’s also clear that the driver in this case was so plastered that she had passed the point of ambiguity by an order of magnitude and obviously shouldn’t have been driving.

I am not even sure what state of mind and level of impairment it would take for me to drive 65 in a 25, especially in one of those beach towns where pedestrians/golf carts/pets are all over the place at all hours.  I think other flaws are exposed in the people who do this other than drunk driving.  I’ve had some drunk nights that were real doozies and my risk appetite didn’t really change.  I just don’t get it.
