Just wanting to commiserate with others in the same position. DD applied everywhere EA (all state schools) and is down to her final 2. Just this week she's decided she's worried about choosing the "lower ranked" school, even though it's likely the better fit. I'm sure a lot of it is just freaking out about the future, but it's getting ridiculous. Please tell me I'm not the only one dealing with this right now.
tell us where she’s deciding between, and I’m sure we can figure out where she should go!!!
Wake Forest and Davidson
Well your DD rocks for one since both amazing schools with limitless possibilities. If your DD was into social scene in high school, Wake is going to have more of a path to satisfy that desire. Davidson is recruited by top finance firms more than Wake but Wake has more of the humanities “extracurricular” what with the Maya Angelou connection and #1 nationally ranked debate team. Others may disagree but I think Davidson slightly more prestigious if that matters. Good luck in deciding.
I had never heard of Davidson (or quite a few other schools) before reading DCUM.
Yes. Please don't mix up words: I'm sure all these colleges most people have never heard of are full of dedicated teachers and intelligent students. But don't claim that any of them are prestigious! For example, St John's College was my kid's safety. I LOVE it. Practically no one has ever heard of it. It's not prestigious, even though I believe it gives students a wonderful education. He's going somewhere else that's better suited for his major (SJC teaches the classics), but we have a lot of respect for all the colleges on his list, even the ones that aren't well-known. Respect does not equal prestige.
