He's now proposing a 10 cent (10% essentially) property tax increase and using the MD state law where county council can approve it based on majority vote rather than the unanimous vote that the people enacted with the charter amendment in 2018 (in response to the 8.7% property tax increase in 2016). His rationale is that the 10% increase will go solely to MCPS, but you can't make that argument when other parts of the budget are growing too. So misleading. And the sad and infuriating part is that many councilmembers seemed sympathetic and supportive at the council meeting today. [/quote]
