My plan is to annoy the facilitator with questions all day like, “so when my advisory is cursing and eating snacks as I click through your slides, how exactly do I get them to discuss anything with their peers?” “I see my advisory once a week for 17 minutes. 5 of those minutes are school video announcements. Tell me again how your corporate program umpires their lives? Where is the peer reviewed research proving this?”
That’s exactly the kinds of questions you should be asking during a training.
I to dread the training. I fear they are going to put 200 staff in a the cafeteria with admin looking on and have us cycle around at dreadful "stations" to mimic how this may be done in a large corporate setting. The trainers will basically act as cheerleaders saying how wonderful everything is over and over again. The zoom training last summer was surviveable, but this will be a trainwreck and make most staff miserable. The trainers were experts at blowing off any criticism last year. We want SEL, but LiM is not that at all. LiM doesn't really acknowledge or place any value on the often traumatic experiences of our students.
Personally, I'd prefer that MCPS spent less money on programs like this so we wouldn't have to raise property taxes in order to pay teachers.
