When the neighborhoods surrounding university park (basically all of west hyatt, and all of CP minus old town) started becoming predominantly Hispanic in the 90’s and 2000’s, a lot of the waspy folks left university park for MoCo and who knows where else. Now UP itself is still predominantly white, just significantly more of the crunchy, more liberal type folks versus when I was growing up back when it was a WASP fest. A lot of professors at UMD live there now. [/quote]
