Whether or not there are gangs I think we can all agree than canek Aguirre is the worst. He needs to go. Schools should have the ability to keep the students and staff safe without an idiot city council member overriding everything. Also, I think it's so sad that we don't even know the name of the student who was murdered in broad daylight in the middle of a school day in front of his classmates only a block from the school. Why is his name secret!?
Of the four who obviously carried Wilson's water to get rid of the SROs - two are still on the council - Canek and Chapman - and one - Elizabeth Bennett Parker - was elevated to delegate by Alexandrians. Don't give Canek all the credit!
You've got your facts wrong. Mayor Wilson was in the minority and was against removing SROs from the schools. He did not vote for it. https://www.alxnow.com/2021/07/07/mayor-dismayed-by-council-relationship-with-school-board-after-reallocation-of-school-resource-officer-funding/
But he definitely did not fight for it. Well, that would involve something he lacks in spades --- integrity and moral courage. A continuing trend were in a meeting just 10 days ago Aguirre and Chapman questioned the need for police in schools. And no one. NO ONE had the courage to speak truth and vocally shut the defunders down. It’s sickening.
Exactly. He can't vote against SROs in school because his mommy mafia (as he calls them) are quietly for SROs in schools. Him being quiet at meetings is a tell. Whenever he is quiet or starts saying things like "I'm just one of seven" ... you know he's weaseling his way out of something. It was the same on housing on school grounds. He (and the school board) sat in meetings for MONTHS discussing housing (all publicly available) and then when it came to MacArthur and George Mason he suddenly didn't know anything and and refused to say if he was against housing. And only one person called him a liar at a public meeting and he was easily re-elected. It's a winning formula! If the voters buy it...they deserve what they get.
