But I was told in another thread that living in the city instead of moving to the suburbs once I had kids was childish, because cities are crime-ridden and not child friendly, and the suburbs are heaven. Are you telling me... that was wrong?
Many parts of MoCo and NoVa really aren't true suburbia tho. They're like mini cities and extensions of DC.
That is true but also Nova has half the crime of Moco
Not really true. Check crimegrade.org -- they're about the same in terms of safety. It's really only DC proper that is not very safe. I will grant you that the VA folks are obsessed with posting on here about crime in MD; MD folks do not have the same obsession about VA, so if you only follow this board, it can give a skewed perspective.
I live in MoCo and all I’ve gotta do is compare the crimes to know it’s not true. FFX has half the murders and a fraction of the armed robberies and carjackings than MoCo. The WaPo used to have a map of homicides in the area which allowed you to look more closely at the crimes and when you compare FFX and MoCo murders, the big difference is that most FFX homicides were domestic incidents while most MoCo homicides were drug or gang related.
