The Ugly Cry by Danielle Henderson Somebody's Daughter by Ashely Ford Both are debut memoir's, and have some similarities, but are wonderful stories. The Ugly Cry had be laughing and crying and just IN MY FEELS at so many points.
This is an unpopular opinion, but I didn’t like Somebody’s Daughter. It was a decent book, but it got so much buzz that seemed very unwarranted. “I kept forgetting to breathe while I was reading it.” “People will be talking about this book forever.” I didn’t get that at all from this book. I really like the author and have followed her on social media for many years, but this book was pretty “meh” for me. Her publisher did a really good job selling the book, but to me the hype was unwarranted. It’s a pretty short book and took me a really long time to finish it. Most people love it, and I’m happy it did well because I like the author and empathize with her story. But this is not one I would recommend.
