Skipping is a huge problem at my school, but we lack the staff to combat it. We would need to hire 2-3 additional security guards whose sole duty would be to sweep the halls constantly and detain any student without a pass, then have an administrator call a parent to come pick the student up. Repeat every day until the parents get sick of having to leave work at 10:10 AM to pick up Larlo up because he can’t sit in Math 7 for 45 min.

Sounds like BS.  They skip because they CAN and because they want to.

Enforce consequences for missing classes.  Hire more staff for that purpose instead of some of the other useless initiatives MCPS implements.  [/quote]
