I think it's insane to prefer death to divorce if you believe marriage is some horrible, terrible state of being. Divorce is overwhelmingly ruinous for men compared to women.  Especially if alimony and children are involved.  Courts overwhelmingly punish men much more than women.  So yeah, staying in the jail of marriage and dying earlier is a better decision than getting divorced, losing half of everything plus insane alimony and child payments, and being forced to live in poverty for years.  Besides, dying earlier means late 60s and 70s anyway, when you're at the end and quality of life sucks anyway.  Staying married is like taking your daily dose of cod oil everyday.  You do it only because you know it is the better financial option. Freedom will eventually come.[/quote]'

Truth.  A significantly majority of folks can't afford to comfortably divorce.  Women typically end up the poorest in the longterm even when they receive alimony and child support, but men financially suffer as well. [/quote]
