I’ve also noticed this in my marriage, and I think a lot of it is that we settled down at different ages. Because I’m female, I felt like I had to start husband hunting pretty much right after I graduate college. Biological clocks and aging and whatnot. H is almost a decade older, so he had plenty of time to play the field and have fun, and then settled down at almost 40. So it’s almost like he got to live 2 lives - first the fun life of a bachelor and now he’s ready for the steady life of a husband and father. Whereas monogamy and LTRs are really all I know, and I was I had had the time to be single, explore who I was, and get more out of life.
Exactly this. Your ovaries simply do not care that it takes you a fair while to figure out who you REALLY are and what you REALLY want. And even though IVF can prolong fertility for awhile, IVF (1) cannot prolong it beyond certain boundaries; and (2) your ovaries don't shut up even if your brain tells them that science would allow them to be quiet for a few more years. They just SCREAM at you.
