Because they have to make sure the power is off.

They have to send people up to test that and ground the lines (IDK what that means but I read it).

They have to secure the plane to the tower before attempting removal.

They have to get the equipment to do these things.

I don't understand the ageism and "sue the pilot" talk. [b]Apparently he crashed where he did to avoid hitting a neighborhood.[/b] 65 isn't exactly at death's door. Maybe he was drunk or whatever, but maybe he had a plane malfunction. Isn't that far more likely? Yes, it's irritating to lose power. But these things happen. Have some compassion. Or go to a hotel in VA.

I’m sympathetic to the pilot and passenger (NP here), but it seems he was flying in conditions he wasn’t prepared for. The weather looked bad all day - and I grew up with a dad who is a private pilot and flew a lot as a kid and college kid. The weather today was not good for a flight. [/quote]
