Why do gun owners have more rights than others?
They vote. A lot. And they’re okay with people dying so they can keep their toys rather than voting for a safer society. They also care more about their feelings toward guns than they do about things like statistics and facts.
They're also single issue voters.
They’re also cool with making it harder to vote in hopes of suppressing those who would vote for reasonable gun control. I know this because they keep voting for politicians who keep doing that. I really think we’ll see change as the next generation of voters take a stand. The kids who grew up with active shooter drills in classrooms. The kids who got cell phones much earlier than their parents planned on giving them phones so they could call or text in an emergency. The ones who know to run, hide, fight, as well as we knew to exit quickly and orderly during a fire drill. The ones who don’t get shot will vote for the ones who were lost and to keep mass shootings from being a daily occurrence.
