No way I did and never even thought about it.  Or MJ.  I didn’t even know what marijuana was until I was a teen.  I guarantee most elementary kids were not wondering what sexual orientation any of the characters were.[/quote]

Right? Sigh. I look a LOT like her. And I always wished I looked like Daphne because she was obviously the pretty one. I didn't read Velma as gay, I read her as desexualized and didn't want to to ID with her because I didn't want to be undesirable. Yes, that's super judgy, that was growing up with 90s beauty standards. I don't know whether to read making her gay as a relief because representation matters, or a kind of condescending "it's cool that boys don't like her, she's not into them either" message. [/quote]
