This is nothing new and there are many reasons artist choose a stage name. Maybe they want to protect their identity, maybe they have a very familiar name, maybe they’re real name doesn't embody the persona they are trying to create, etc.[/quote]

Because if everyone stuck to their birth names, then we would not have the benefit of some great talent. ✨

Imagine if Norma Jean, Archibald Leach, Frances Gumm or even most recently Carmen Electra had never changed to their stage names??
