She is a rising senior interested in engineering (but could change her mind and also likes the liberal arts). Looking for: in or near a city, mid-sized, preferably not in the Midwest. 3.9 UW GPA at private school, moderately rigorous courses, 32 ACT (may apply TO) No hooks Possible candidates: Northeastern, U of Miami, Villanova, BU, BC, Wake Forest, Lehigh, LMU, USC, Santa Clara Any feedback or other ideas?
NU engineering is super tough to get into - always has been, just be forewarned, OP.
Northwestern (NU) is not Northeastern (NEU). Their marketing is confusing.
no, https://www.nu.edu/
They may be trying to change to NU from NEU, but ask most people who are familiar with Top 50 universities, and NU is Northwestern.
Northeastern has been NU since at least the 70's. But let's not make this thread about that, shall we? Since it is obviously one of the schools that DCUM likes to go off on.
Not in a national sense. It would just make it easier if people used something else because everyone associates NU with Northwestern.
in a natioanl sense, general public don't give a shit about colleges and its names. We had 20 Johns in my high school. Use it in a context and it'll be fine. NU = Northeatsern in this thread and context.
Np, NU is northwestern, NEU is northeastern. When you are wrong, accept it and move on. Don’t be a di*k.
NO NU is National Universtiy = www.nu.edu Accept it.
Not in a national sense. No pun intended. Let's stop picking at semantics. It's about clarity. Northwestern has been a nationally known entity, referred to as NU for short for ages. No one here refers to National University. Those referring to Northeastern should use neu or something else for clarity's sake. Now, any other ideas about engineering? I have a dd interested in ocean or environmental or mechanical or civil. But, also lijes writing and theatre.
Right internet is internatinal sense. People all over the world go to NU.edu and will get confused. Northwestern better change its name. Exept for a few schools like Harvard MIT Standford Yale Princeton, no school has natioanl sense. Northeasern is probabaly more konw in the Boston/Northeast area.
NU is known nationally. Not the National Uni but the "other one". Did you go to National Uni or do you have a kid attending there? Is it a for-profit school?
