As long as so many teachers and Duran are wearing masks, things won't be normal. Bars and restaurants are normal, but they act like kids are little disease vectors. See the picture yesterday with Tim Kaine. He's not wearing a mask, while Barbara Kanninen and Duran are. Really pathetic. COVID is going away. These people are pushing lifetime masking.
COVID is NEVER going away is what I meant to say.
No sh1t. Certainly not with people running around like idiots. We know it’s here to stay. So when #s go up, we mask up and do fewer indoor events. When #s go down, we go mostly back to normal. I think many people will mask up at doctor’s offices, etc going forward. It’s not that complicated.
This is an argument for lifetime masking. What a dystopian world. FYI - Arlington is at medium level now, and even with the CDC's completely arbitrary guidelines, they're not recommending people wear masks. Kids are having mental health problems in Arlington and elsewhere, but we're not hearing of any where school has been normal all this year. There's a reason why humans don't wear masks.
The prior commenter referred to "people running around like idiots" as the 90% of people who have returned to normal. Wow - some whackos are forever maskers who never want to return to normal (COVID is never going away). I can imagine these people's kids are the ones with mental healthy problems already. These are kids who will later disown their parents when they realize their parents robbed them of a normal childhood for years.
Ok arbiter of "normal," where do you draw the line? Do kids in wheelchairs have normal childhoods? How about kids who have another physical deformity and have something visible on them all day? Kids who have special diets and can't eat the same foods around their friends, foods that are considered "normal." I just want insight into your brand of idiocy for consistency's sake.
+1 My kid (who wears a mask) plays sports, plays with friends, goes to school. etc. I even saw them and their friends making funning faces at each other. They were all laughing hysterically at each other, even at the funny faces my masked child was making (lots of hand gestures and silliness all around). What exactly is my child missing?
You really don’t think it’s possible that there are downsides to not displaying or seeing most of your/someone else’s face? Bizarre.
Jfc are you the same person each time with this argument? Stop projecting. You offer no new insight to this.
No, I’m new. I am interested in an honest answer to that question, though. Kids (especially vaccinated kids!) are incredibly low risk for bad Covid outcomes. Teachers are vaccinated. I just don’t understand why some people insist on having their kids wear masks in this environment and deny that there could be any downsides when seeing faces has been the norm here forever.
