Agree.  Good school/bad school is in other words saying high income/low income student majority.  It isn’t about race but about socioeconomic status.  Poor white school districts are terrible too. [/quote]

This is an SES thing NOT a race thing. Yes race is correlated with SES but the reason people are avoiding certain schools is not because of skin color. It is due to the reality that poor kids and non-English speaking kids sap the teacher’s time because their needs are so much higher typically/on average than MC English speaking kids. With schools having moved away from tracking this is a big deal [/quote]

Fair point but that does not change the fact that what people really are concerned about is the poverty and English language gap problems. The fact that those kids happen to be black and Hispanic mostly is not why parents are trying to avoid those schools. The fact that the kids are poor and can’t speak English is. [/quote]
