We get there and FIL had booked the hotel at market rate and hadn't even asked the price. I kid you not, I stayed at a Holiday Inn for $375 a night. This crummy hotel goes for like $85 on Hotwire. FIL had already checked us in and we couldn't cancel the room. I remember crying because there went our vacation budget for the rest of the year. We couldn't afford $1500 and I'd budgeted about $400 for the 4 night stay.

Every time they bring up vacationing together, I decline now. I've been burned.[/quote]
