This seems like the same divide that happens between wanting cake from a pastry shop and wanting the traditional sheet cake from a grocery store or pancake maple syrup vs. pancake syrup: you can argue about which is better in some absolute sense, but they're so different it's really just a matter of preference, probably stemming from what you're used to, and there's no persuading someone that something they don't like is "better."* Also, I am once again asking bakeries to stop offering their gourmet takes on Oreos. You may be offering a delicious chocolate cookie with vanilla icing, but it's not what I want when I want an Oreo.

This recipe for homemade brownies is pretty clearly stolen from Cook's Illustrated, which is my favorite. The woman behind this website has complicated things unnecessarily (I assume for copyright purposes), but the proportions are right. You can make them as one-bowl brownies, and they are delicious -- but slightly cakey and not shiny on top, so if you like thin/fudgy boxed brownies, you won't like these.
