Lol... I'm Catholic and ND definitely does not play with the Ivies or Stanford... LOL.
Being Catholic doesn't give you any inside knowledge on which schools Notre Dame "plays with."
Do they teach reading for comprehension and critical thinking at ND? The PP is obviously mentioning that they are Catholic to show that they have an affiliation that might make them predisposed to award more points to ND. But even as a Catholic, they find the idea that ND is on the level of Ivies or Stanford to be laughable. One of the reasons these threads are so tedious is that all the ND boosters are kind of dim, which makes arguing with them exhausting. That should really tell you everything you need to know.
NP. It is interesting to see the various perspectives of hating on ND. I have categorized them as follows: 1) Those who are anti-Catholic and liberal who would consider every other top 20 as elite -- but never ND. 2) Those who are Catholic (or not), applied, and were rejected. Admissions to this school is becoming more and more challenging, with many big donor legacies even getting rejected or deferred. Especially those who applied along with the ivies, thinking it might be a backup...it is highly possible some HYPS admits were rejected from ND. 3) The Georgetown boosters. 4) And then the roll of the mill DCUM haters in general...they love piling on the negativity at every opportunity.
I don't "hate" ND, but I do think the boosters are over the top. Lots of my family went there and have nephews and nieces there now. It's a good school with a lot of spirit. But it's still not in the Ivy category.
Got it, you sound like the mouth breather in the family that couldn't get in, seems like your entire family minus you and your kids got in. Nice self-own even though you're too stupid to realize it. I can't stand ND but idiots like you are just easy to disparage. Just accept your place in life, imagine it wasn't even a top 50 but you're OK little anonymous poster.
Wow, pretty touchy. I went to my state's flagship(Michigan) for a lot less money, had no interest in applying to ND and have a PhD (from an Ivy), but you can believe whatever you like if it suits your narrative. My eldest is at UVA and don't know where my second will go as they are only a sophomore in HS, but ND wasn't on our list at all. My family that goes to ND all live in the Midwest and are practicing Catholics. I am not a practicing Catholic nor are my kids. Nor do they have much interest in going to school in the Midwest--not even my alma mater. Like I said, nothing against ND--except that sometimes the boosters--which you showed nicely--are a bit...much. Nah, not touchy, just can't stand the constant bashing of good schools on this site. Don't really care about your superfluous comment about a PhD from an "Ivy." I mean I can throw out my credentials, UCLA and Stanford but you know throwing that out on an anonymous board where only you feel good is a bit narcissistic. I wish you the best. On another note my kid is at UVA too so "Go HOOS!" That ND game last weekend was excruciating. Going to be a tough game against Pitt this weekend, hope Armstrong is back but the Tech game will be epic!
