I live on the county line of Moco and Frederick Co. As soon as I turn on 75, I have insurgent row with flags of Trump 2020, Blue Lives Matter, Don't treat on me, and God Bless America stickers all over their trucks. Ot one house but an ENTIRE row of homes. It is like that in Monrovia, Ijamsville, Mount Airy, and parts of Damascus. I feel surrounded by this but thankful I am in the one neighborhood that zones to Moco schools. I could never send my black girls to Windsor Knolls or Green Valley. So, yes, I would not choose Frederick Co. as I know they will not accept my children with kindness when hate literally covers large swaths of the county.
Wait, so you would rather send your kid to Baker Middle than Windsor Knolls middle? Bc there are a few more students of color? That's cutting off your nose to spite your face
What's so great about Windsor Knolls MS vs. Baker MS? Just that Windsor Knolls MS has a lower percentage of poor students? Windsor Knolls MS 2020-2021 School Year State-Reported Student Data (based on September 30 enrollment) Total Enrollment: 709 Race/Ethnicity (%): American Indian/Alaskan Native: 0.0% Asian: 6.1% Black/African American: 6.8% Hispanic/Latino: 13.1% Hawaiian/Other Pacific Islander: 0.1% White: 68.7% 2+ Races: 5.2% Students Receiving Special Services (%): Free/Reduced Price Meals: 12.0% English Language Learners: 1.1% Special Education: 8.0% John T. Baker MS Total Enrollment: 797 Race/Ethnicity (%): American Indian/Alaskan Native: <5.0% Asian: 6.1% Black/African American: 12.8% Hispanic/Latino: 28.5% Hawaiian/Other Pacific Islander: <5.0% White: 46.3% 2+ Races: 6.3% Students Receiving Special Services (%): Free/Reduced Price Meals: 28.9% ESOL: <5.0% Special Education: 13.4%
Well, it sounds like you're judging the quality of a school based exclusively off diversity and percentage of poor students. Forget test scores, or math & reading proficiency, just diversity, huh? Or, just go hang out around those school yards and listen to the kids, and ask yourself which ones are seem more respectful? which ones seem on a better path to success? And FWIW, this has nothing to do with race. Just listen to how the kids of all races speak, and how they behave at Baker. You've got blinders on.
Eh? A previous poster brought up student demographics. So there are the demographic data - which are, as we all know, highly correlated with standardized test scores, standardized assessments of math and reading proficiency, and some people's personal opinions about student behavior and future student access.
