We have 3 kids and our family only has one car (a minivan) and a modest house (2 kids share a room). So I’m not sure we are screaming “status symbol.”  :lol: Granted, we live close-in in a walkable neighborhood and prioritized location over a big house (so I guess I’m more status conscious about living in a desirable zip code than just having a McMansion in a generic burb). Do you like how I wove in another common DCUM battle to this thread?  :lol:

But seriously, at the end of the day, we’ve made trade offs like everyone and 3 is the number of kids we really wanted. It never crossed my mind that having a third kid would be a status thing because our friends with 1 or 2 kids have an easier time getting a sitter, traveling, etc. Having three kids isn’t the most glamorous lifestyle unless you mean the people who outsource everything to an army of nannies. I guess there is a youth factor we have though in that I am 6 years younger than DH, so we had time for a third kid whereas his friends with same aged wives had their second later in life than I had my third. But again, I don’t see this as some huge flex. A part of me is jealous they’re out of the diaper and napping stage! [/quote]
