He may get rejected by all of them!! Not because he's not a strong candidate, but because EVERY KID is a strong candidate for those highly selective colleges. My kid (with similar stats to your DS) ended up at her safety (for financial reasons) and loved it. She's now in a highly selective graduate program, so going to a third-tier college didn't hurt her one bit. A friend of hers who went to one of the colleges on your child's list dropped out after a year. It was too stressful for her, so she ended up at a large state flagship, where she was happy and did well. BTW, a lot more highly qualified kids end up at "safeties" because of cost. There is a cohort of highly qualified kids at almost every college these days. [/quote]
