The fact that TJ exists is pure evil. It goes against all that public education stands for.
That's an absurd statement. Total nonsense.
Not PP, but TJHSST wasn't created for educational purposes. It was created for marketing purposes by the county Board of Supervisors when the BOS was controlled by Republicans courting west coast defense contractors to rent space in suburban office parks. Then, of course, once created it became something for some kids to aim for, and eventually mostly a place that just kids of one ethnicity aimed for.
You say this as if it's a bad history, an evil history. Creating a magnet school isn't a bad thing, courting businesses with schools isn't a bad thing. Republicans are pro-education at the local level and are generally excellent stewards.
The bolded has never been true, at least with respect to public education.
You must be in a teacher's union. Democratic controlled public schools are the worst in the country by far. Wake up.
You must be a Fox News viewer. Those schools under-perform because they're in under-resourced urban neighborhoods and are largely populated by folks who can't afford to supplement their child's education with extras outside the school building. Go back to sleep.
Bull.
Let's see.... study from WalletHub measures US states by educational attainment across 18 different metrics. The most educated state that voted for Trump in 2020 is Utah, ranking #11 behind 10 blue states. The next most educated red state is Montana, at #19 behind seven other blue states. Meanwhile, of the bottom 14 states, 12 of them voted for Trump in 2020. It would appear that states that favor Republicans score poorly in education. As the kids are fond of saying these days, "Scoreboard!"
Education is controlled by local governments. Go look at the worst performing schools in those states and tell me the political affiliation of the school board members.
