One loss in how many games again? Oh, that's right, 45 games. Amazes me how many people do not realize just how impressive the past few years have been for USWNT have been yet you want to act like one loss is the end. Wow. We truly live in a village of idiots these days. SMH.
People have been warning of this for some time based on both style of play, age of team and how they performed late in the last World Cup and after. How they lost to Sweden falls perfectly in line with what most critical observers have been noticing for a while now.
+1 And these observations undercut those who argue, on the men's side, that the US would dominate in soccer if our best athletes played soccer instead of other sports. There's much more to the game than athleticism.
As our window closes and other countries surpass us perhaps we can put the "our best athletes" argument to rest. Soccer attracts a huge chunk of our best female athletes currently. It is much more than athletes and moving forward the difference will be technical and tactical skill and IQ. These are the two things we are not interested in developing.
