1) you don’t need a formal security clearance to lose your job over trying weed as a fed; ALL federal employees are barred from trying illegal drugs (including pot); 2) doesn’t matter where you take the weed; it could even be Amsterdam or even Thailand on vacation. If you “piss dirty,” your federal employment can be terminated for cause (that case being: you took illegal drugs); 3) did none of you federal employees bother to read all the minuscule fine print on the forms you signed prior to your entry on duty date? None of you studied the F.C.R. related to illegal drug use by federal employees and contractors?? Go take your chances, if you want to gamble with your federal career, benefits, and pension. Crime is like that: maybe you’ll get away with it. But don’t whine and cry victim if you throw it all away just to smoke dope (which, in fact, remains unlawful under the CSA).
Great! For those of us who don’t work for the federal government or a federal contractor, have never worked for the federal government or a federal contractor, and have no plans ever to work for the federal government or a federal contractor, this is really no problem. The only time I had to pass a drug test for a job, I passed easily, because I hadn’t used marijuana for months before I applied. Now I’ve got no reason to worry about it and am not throwing away anything. I appreciate your concern for the people who are in exactly the situation you keep laying out these stark warnings about, but the rest of us really don’t care about your dire scenarios.
