I was in the same predicament as OP a few years ago. DH and i made a whimsical move to DC just before junior started his junior year. We came from New York City, with my Andover pedigree and DH's Groton also-ran halo. Junior was a smart one, i had gone to Andover, and all of the Big Three drooled over him as we paraded him around to the Big Three over Fourth of July weekend. They couldn't believe their good luck. A smart boy, two whole years of tuition dollars, New York City, and all on a whim. No thought or preparation ahead of our arrival. I couldn't keep their names straight. There was SAA and Sidley and the Country Day School. I even got NCS into it because i couldn't figure out who was in and who was out of the Big Three. No Andover here, but they're is a Big Three, and that's almost Groton. My pixie dust would have to make up for the rest. Junior had test scores and grades, and these little schools all wanted him because he is smart. They kept bidding for him with each deal better than the next. By the end of the day. It was settled. Junior would have all of September to try out each one and then we decide. Did I mention Exeter? Whoops. Andover. Can never keep them straight. After all of the kind offers and all of the kind advice. I went back to my imaginary life.
