It was reported that Martin died in a shootout, which would have been easily disputed by the police, so there was some amount of cover up, ie, I assume Kate called her parents first, and they got the right people involved for "finding her" 3. We never got the fallout of Kate's sister catfishing her, or Jeanette's brother leaking their conversation. 4. Jeanette is a psychopath and knows Kate's big secret. 5.
