What reason do I give her for needing a copy?
You need a copy for the kids’ pediatrician who is contact tracing.
So you're encourage OP to LIE to her nanny? You have no room to complain if your nanny (or anyone else) ever lies to you! This isn't so hard. Just tell your nanny that proof of vaccination is a condition of employment. Anyone can be fully vaccinated (including that 2 week post-vaccination period) within 5 weeks at this point. There are plenty of available appointments and there are free Uber rides available (I just got some random text about it this morning.) Anyone who is not vaccinated/in the middle of the vaccination process at this point is because they do not WANT it right now. And that's her right. But she can not be employed by you. I'd give her 3 days to show me a vaccination card, with at least the first vaccine noted.
