We are not local to DC anymore so it wasn't a DC hospital. it was a 'baby friendly' hospital but it did have a nursery, which had been shut due to covid BUT opened just before I gave birth. I did use the nursery on night 2 when DH left b/c baby wouldn't settle with me in the room. Night 3 I didn't need it and kept baby with me. DH stayed night 1 and that was critical. However, I found the nurses to be very helpful...I was paging right and left when he left for [b]refills on water,[/b] help picking up baby, etc. They seemed happy to help with these things and there was a good stock of floating nurse externs who were perfect for these jobs. I will admit I even enjoyed my alone time with baby. Maybe I also got a good group of nurses b/c everyone seemed very happy to [b]make me tea, bring snacks[/b] on off hours, move the baby back and forth, hold the baby while I did a lap around the halls.[/quote]

Uh doc? You want someone doing this for themselves after abdominal surgery while carrying their newborn? Or she’s supposed to get dehydrated to avoid being a “PITA” with her basic needs? Can you tell us where you practice so I avoid it like the plague?
