My MIL teaches Kindergarten and she says the kids that age chew in the masks and won't keep them on. One kid ate like half of a paper mask. And these kids are older. It's totally a false sense of security, kids that close to each other all day, the masks really won't do anything, especially with typical kid compliance. They're napping and eating together.
My two year old wears a mask. My kindergartner definitely wears a mask Why are there so many bad parents out there unable to teach their kids to wear masks? Or is it just that the parents aren’t trying? This isn’t hard, people.
You’re right, it’s not hard to get kids to wear a mask. What is hard is to have kids wear masks for eight hours a day and keep them clean and sanitary.
Stop. I direct a childcare center in DC. Our 2s and older wear masks. Yes, it took about 1.5 months in September to get the 2s used to them. But they are good at it now. And, we CHANGE THEM when they get wet or yucky. So a child goes through 2 or 3 a day. We don't leave them in wet masks! Yes, some children chew on them but those kids change them more often. Seriously. I want kids to be out of masks. I want ME to be out of a mask. So get vaccinated yourself. Get your 12 year olds and older get vaccinated. And when the 2s and up can get vaccinated then get them vaccinated.
If a kid is chewing/sucking on a mask, then the mask is a greater danger than a help. If the masks don't fit snugly around the mouth, then they're not stopping droplets. If the masks constantly fall under the kids noses, then they're not doing much. Any of those sound familiar? Because that's what I see at my kid's daycare every single day.
