How common is a 99th percentile (overall) SSAT score in the metropolitan DC area?
Very common
Um, no, the nature of the definition of "percentile" means that being in the 99th percentile CANNOT be "very common." Really.
It is not one of of every 100 people. That would be the case of each person scored a point difference person out of every 100 the highest score is "in the 99th percentile" (you can't score in the 100th percentile because you can't beat your own score) If you "scored in the 66th percentile", you scored "as well as or better than" 66% of the group.it’s not the same as getting 99percrnt correct on a test. A percentage and percentile are different!
