i was the guy the originally stated that Tommy has done some really good stuff with the club since he took over. I opted not to take the bait when someone wanted it listed and explained. If you dont already know you arent going to listen to what I have to say. I'm the person who asked and it wasn't "bait." My child plays travel for Alexandria but is young, so I have no idea what the club was like before Tommy or what he did in comparison to other clubs. Not everything is a trap, and not everyone's life revolves around following travel soccer. Grow up. The rec program was a lot better and more competitive pre-Tommy. Today, the clubs red teams should get kids onto their HS teams, but all the other ASA teams are still playing rec level soccer at travel prices. The focus over the years has been about developing expensive programs. These programs get the priority and the more affordable options are neglected.
What do you want them to do for rec? My son is currently on ASA's blue team (he's a a pre-teen). He used to play rec, and the experience varied widely based upon his coaches, all of whom were volunteers. Were there ever paid coaches for rec? If not, what could ASA do to make a program with volunteer coaches, all of whom have different personalities and experience levels, better?
What people should be asking is how many coaches could they hire to work with the rec program if they paid their director a market rate. It seems like there is $100K-$200K available, assuming the club starts paying the rates that every other club pays in the region for their director.
