Crazily enough I feel like there was more information about family planning calendar style in those times. Couples rely on pills too much. Learn your ovulation signals. Yes, it is possible that you ovulate outside of that window but the opportunity decreases. Add in some form of BC and you minimize changes greatly, but again, relying on the pill and not taking it at the same time means the whole month is out the window. Limit or eliminate sex during fertile window and use condoms at all other times.

This may work well for women who are regular, or close to it.  Not everyone can rely on this.  I have PCOS, and my cycles vary wildly.[/quote]
