This is pp. I am in Ward 6. If you really cared about your city and the rest of the children in it, you wouldn't lobby for ALL the excellent school options to land in your backyard. I hope you all in wards 2-4 open your minds and hearts a little. Give me a break.
PP that's fair. I am totally uninterested in sending my child to BASIS, though I am interested in education and am following its evolution. That being said, I live in Ward 3 and I would selfishly prefer my kid attend a school that meets two criteria: safe walking in and out of the entrance and standing on the corner nearby; good access to public transportation routes. I'm not sure I could list which wWards, or neighborhoods within wards meet that criteria--but I would hope that when the school admin start scouting locations, that's where they focus. I will never forget attending a mediocre Catholic school in DC in a 'relatively' safe neighborhood (so-so, in transition), when one of my classmates was shot as a passerby (non-fatally thank god) crossing the street to get to school. This was 5th grade. I don't even want that possibility for my child, or any of their classmates--no matter the Ward they come from.
