Maryland’s metrics are worse than VA today on covidexit
And worse than most other countries. Maryland had 925 new cases yesterday. For perspective, the entire country of Italy only had 198 new cases yesterday. And yet we're still encouraging tourists to come visit MD?!
Maryland's population 6 million. Italy 60 million! Maryland 154 new cases per million per day Italy: 3 new cases per million per day 3 new cases per million per day!! Don't tell me it can't be done.
COVID swept Italy, remember? Most people got it early on, remember? They have quasi herd immunity. Maryland implemented restrictions to flatten the curve. Not apples to apples, pp.
I want things to go back to normal as much as the next person but I don't understand this constant need to rationalize the numbers to make things seem better than they are here. Maybe Maryland isn't as bad as Florida/Arizona/Texas right now but Maryland still has more new daily cases than most countries. Maryland's new cases: 925 (7 day average 713) New daily cases in UK: 741 France: 560 Germany: 409 Canada: 393 We need to stop pretending that this isn't bad. It is bad.
