I wish there was law prohibiting anyone under 25 to marry
This only seems weird if you are in our DCUM bubble where you are a "kid" until a year.or 2 after college. If you are 24 and have been supporting yourself since 18 you are not a kid by 25. You are often exhausted but not immature Then again I know folks who happily got married after 2y of law school and while in medical school that are still going strong at about 24-25. It's not my ideal but their are hardly children!
That’s one downside for me of living in an overachieving area. I value education but I have no patience for spoiled children/adults. I cannot stand the mentality that kids at 20 are “children.” Where I grew up, most kids by 20 were either in the military, driving to college classes from their own apartment, or other. In my mind if kids can’t survive a weekend alone in the house by hs they aren’t ready for life. I’m not going to fully fund college for my kids and they know that (they are young). I read on the college forum and the number of parents who said their kids are sitting home doing nothing was cringeworthy. My kid would be at a grocery store six days a week the summer after college if they couldn’t yet find a job, and they’d be frantically applying to jobs. Flame away.
Dp. I think there are lots of ways to raise kids and your way isnt the only way. Not every person matures in the same way at the same rate. My kids applied for jobs but the process is taking longer. If we didnt have covid19 I would agree with you about jobs and older teens. However, we are living in a pandemic and I dont want my kids to get it and pass it along to us.
One is working at a restaurant and the other a grocery store. If they don't feel safe doing that then its definitely not safe to do in-person schooling which people are championing for (even hybrid), college or k-12, this fall.
