Great thread OP, thanks for starting this. To date, we've gone to a grocery store once since mid-March, and only leave our house/yard to walk the dog on deserted streets. We have gotten takeout, but only takeout that can be reheated. We hope to bubble with another family this summer so our kids can have playdates with their kids. Likely limited to outdoors at first but we will not enforce distancing. We may let our children find one other playmate each whom they can also see outdoors but not positive about this yet. We will continue to work from home for now. DH works at a university and it is unclear what will happen in the fall. I can WFH indefinitely. No camps or pool this summer. We hope to drive to visit ILs (long drive) and if we are seeing anyone at that point, we will stop and quarantine for two weeks prior, as will they. We will definitely send our kids back to school in the fall if it opens, which I really hope it will. I'm going to ask my hair stylist if she will cut my hair in our yard for extra pay. If she won't I'll find someone else who will. We're willing to restart lawn care at some point with the service we use and we have plans to bring in a roofer to deal with a repair. I'm ok with outdoor access especially if we then stay clear of that space for a day or even half a day. We've been paying our cleaning lady and will continue to do so but I'm not sure when or whether we'll have her come back.
My sister is a hairdresser and I’m so tired of hearing this entitled crap. She wipes down her salon between each client with bleach and wears a mask and controls her environment entirely. She doesn’t deserve to be dragged over to your freakin driveway to cut your hair with none of her stuff. Come on. Get over yourself. You don’t get to outsource all the risk while she has to go to your freaking house. My goodness. You people are amazing.
NP. I’m very sorry for the hardship your sister must be experiencing with this shutdown. However, not all salons are practicing this level of sterilization and further, it is safer for both the stylist and client to be outdoors in open air, if possible. I don’t think it’s an unreasonable request If someone appreciates her expertise, wants to offer more money, and is uncomfortable being in an enclosed space for prolonged period of time. she can obviously always decline.
