What schools do you see students getting excited about that largely may not have have been on the radar five or so years ago? Be sure to include what may have made the difference in terms of the popularity shift. Please be respectful, this could be a useful tool since there are no college tours right now.
There are a ton of schools that fit into this category. It started about 7 years ago. When students were getting denied at their local state schools colleges were figuring out, out of state tuition equals lots of revenue. Hence glut of students with a college degree and not so high paying jobs. Parents paying huge fees for fancy dorms and Taco Bell. These schools aren’t bad or good, but parents should be doing a better job at explaining the cost of attendance vs shiney and pretty. Many of these schools do not have great career centers, that is another huge item people seem to forget when looking at theses schools. Example UMBC or Towson in MD, DC wants to go to a university of South Carolina out of state instead? SC is prettier, but if majoring in anything that doesn’t have an exact flow to a job, nope not better.
