McDonalds sucks yet people still go because they like it. We aren't discussing quality if HS soccer. The issue is that girls play and thus any league that offers elite travel while also offering the ability to pursue HS is better than other options.

Pursing rec soccer is not a better option. Sorry, but the product is crap. You pay $10,000 a year for ECNL training to walk away from it for 3-4 months.

Not sure if you realize that more than 75% of girls in Maryland who receive D1 scholarships play in High School. I think part of the issue is HS Soccer is not as popular as MANY other places in the US. Many in the Colonial states consider High School Soccer more important than DA/ECNL. [b]SEVEN of the TOP 10 Junior Girls in Maryland, five of which already have selected D1 scholarships, played for their high school last fall. [/b]

Now if you are talking Top 10 College Programs in the US, that may be a different story. And if your are that arrogant/ignorant to think your DD is one of them, then it is pure luck, nothing else.  [b]98% of all girl soccer players do not receive scholarships to college.[/b]

You are that parent, you know, the one pipe dreaming your daughter is going to make a USWNT. Or hoping your DD is going to go to Stanford or UNC and warm the bench perhaps. All while they lose out on they're childhood and teenage years because you, the parent, lost site of what is really important when your DD was age 11.

And here is McLean's list. They put 13 kids in top D1 programs alone but 7 high school kids in the State of Maryland is nice.

Stop being so damned petty and realize all of your kids are probably going to be working and voting for people who never went near a pitch. They play because they love the game regardless of who is watching. Those elite kids who do slum it for the HS team might like the 15 more people who show up for a girls HS soccer game but they hate playing with your crappy rec kid who doesn’t know what they are doing. They hate playing for a dumb HS coach who plays a crappy simple direct soccer that can only be coached over 3 months to kids who don’t have the skill set for anything more demanding. She also hates playing against similarly bad players who only know how to foul risking injury and her college career.

It is crap played by kids who are crappy at soccer coached by crappy coaches being told by delusional parents how amazing it is.
