She loves kids and talks about her friend who adopted a younger child in her early 50s after raising her own, how this friend was enjoying being a parent all over again. I don't think 40, or even 43 or even 45 is too late to have an infant, as long as you have the resources in place (available parent or grandparent or other reliable loving caregiver, the time, the money for a third, with college costs to high these days).
