As a kid growing up there were some who showed no clues really (typical girly) and some who were very obvious (very tomboy). I was a tomboy but am straight. So I would say no, it's hard to tell.
Same here. I was always tomboyish and into sports, always have dressed fairly plainly, don't wear makeup except on special occasions, very shy and awkward as a kid. But I'm straight. I had crushes on boys or male actors from the time I was 9 or 10 and have never felt attracted to women. I had a friend who was even more tomboyish than me (we were the only two girls who played sports with the boys at recess, including touch football until 6th grade when the boys wouldn't play with us anymore) and she cut her hair like a boy, dressed in her brothers' clothes, etc. I thought for sure she was gay. Ran into her a few years ago and she is married to a man and has young kids and dresses quite feminine now.
